What is a logo?
A logo is an identity. It’s something you want to be associated with, something that represents who you are. Most companies have a logo for that reason—to be easily recognized. It’s not just about standing out in a competitive market but also about making it easier for returning clients to identify your product and connect with your brand.
Before the release of Pax Cthuliana, we knew our two-man company needed to become more professional. We needed a name and a logo. While large companies might spend millions of dollars and countless hours in meetings with advertising firms, we came up with our name and logo in less than an hour—via email.
The name Two Starving Gnolls came from our shared past in D&D, where gnolls, those feral creatures, frequently crossed our paths. We liked them, and there were two of us, so the name felt right. But what were we starving for? We never quite concluded. Was it creativity? Adventure? Success? Perhaps the future will reveal the answer.
Our original logo represented these gnolls. The idea was to capture their feral nature, as if they had clawed the design onto a wooden board. That logo served us well through Pax Cthuliana and beyond, but as our company has grown, so too has our vision. We’re no longer clawing at the surface. We are gnolls with a clear focus and direction.
Our new logo, we believe, is both distinct and memorable. The design and lettering create a strong connection to our company, showcasing who we are. With this transition, we’re taking another step toward becoming a recognized and respected creator of role-playing games and materials in the global community.
We hope you like the change!
